BENJAMIN LIST -List graduated in Chemistry from the Free University of Berlin in 1993, and received his PhD in the same area from the Goethe University of Frankfurt (1997), where he was born. In the same year, he started a postgraduate course at the Scripps Research Institute, in California, the step he needed to start a successful career. He quickly became research group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Germany and, in 2005, director of the same institute. The research of catalytic antibodies, that is, which instead of fighting infections, are used to drive chemical reactions has been a fundamental part of the researcher's work. Organocatalysis allows the synthesis of important molecules without intensive use of heavy metals that are harmful to the environment, a very relvant topic nowadays. Benjamin's study with MacMilan earned him the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. At an event dedicated to the new humanity, List's testimony will be crucial as a synthesis of the purpose of the entire alignment.
